'Tis now the very witching time of night. [William Shakespeare]

That's a little bit embarrassing to admit, but oh well. Part of this navel-gazing exercise called blogging means at least trying to be honest about the good, the bad, and the mortifying aspects of yourself.

So yeah, ghosts. It's not like I think they're lurking around every corner, and I'm not claiming I've ever seen one. But I do have my suspicions about the supernatural. And by suspicions, I mean convictions. I am convinced. No particular reason. I just think they must be around.

Now, if I ever found myself in a situation where I actually suspected the undead were hanging around, I would be a mess. I'm not a brave person. In fact, I don't even do well with scary movies. On an ill-advised Saturday whim --and partly because I felt bad that Kyle was missing out on Halloween parties thanks to my anemia and all its lovely side affects -- I rented Paranormal Activity 2 to liven up the night.

It's still sitting on our coffee table... or should I say lying in wait.

Anyway.

I still enjoy a little spine tingler now and then, and because I'm wimpy, the written word does the trick. So while I'm sure none of these will keep you up at night, I want to share some of my favorite creepy-crawly quotes in honor of All Hallow's Eve.

Because if there's a night when my fear of waking up to a sinister spirit hovering over me while I sleep will be realized, it's tonight.

No, I don't have issues.

Without further ado...

A
house is never still in darkness to those who listen intently; there is a whispering in distant chambers, an unearthly hand presses the snib of the window, the latch rises.  Ghosts were created when the first man awoke in the night.  [J.M. Barrie]

Auld Daddy Darkness creeps frae his hole, black as a blackamoor, blin' as a mole.... [James Ferguson]

That truth is that monsters are real, and ghosts are real, too. They live inside us, and sometimes they win. [Stephen King]

Fear has many eyes, and can see things underground. [Miguel de Cervantes]

Happy haunting, everyone :)
